Forever Chasing Pots of Gold · Deceived by Hollow Dreams
⁘ “Dream on my friend— but recognize the stark boundary between dreams and raw reality. When we forget to ground ourselves in "what is", we're chasing hollow carrots into a palace in the clouds. Don't believe in the tall tales they sell you. When it seems too good to be true, chances are it's simply a trap to capitalize on your hopes and fears.”
Dream on, my friend!
Keep the wings of hope airborne –
but do recognize the stark boundary
between your dreams and present actuality.
If all you do is keep on chasing fairy dreams
and fleeing from the monsters under your bed,
you will be scattered like clouds with the relentless wind.
All of these ideas, giving us momentum,
need to be cross-checked with reality, tempered with clear reason.
When we forget to ground ourselves in what is,
we are chasing hollow carrots into a celestial palace in the clouds.
There is no pot of gold at the end of that rainbow.
Not the rainbow promised to you by the elected politician,
not the rainbow displayed in product packaging designed by marketing wizards.
Chasing those ideas, you are driven, triggered, scattered,
and your fragments are preyed upon by the vultures.
Do not be naive in trusting the whispers in the wind.
Do not believe in the tall tales.
Do not trust those lofty promises.
When it seems too good to be true, then typically it is
a load of a fragrant bull designed to entrap you.
Not to fulfill your hopes,
but to capitalize on them.
Know the difference.
